Una línea de tiempo

A Line of Time is built upon a simple but unbreakable rule: each day, only a single fragment of the drawing may advance. This limitation transforms the process into a visual calendar, where every rectangular module corresponds to a specific day — a material trace of passing time.

The work is organized as a grid composed of hundreds of small blocks, each filled with undulating, parallel lines. At first glance, the drawing appears uniform, but up close it reveals minute variations that betray the hand, the pulse, and the mood of each day. Color unfolds in a prearranged sequence, shifting gradually from cool to warm tones and back again, evoking the transitions of the seasons, the changing light, and the natural cycles that shape life’s rhythm.

At its core, the project is a meditation on persistence and accumulation. Each line records an instant that will never return, and through repetition, the drawing becomes an archive of lived time. Here, time is not represented but rather deposited — embodied in the act of patiently drawing line after line, day after day, as a way of registering continuity and endurance.

Beyond its abstract appearance, A Line of Time can be understood as a form of human record — a silent evidence of having been here. Every stroke, every subtle variation, is a trace of existence: an attempt to fix, within matter, something that constantly escapes us — the experience of being alive and leaving a mark, however small, on the passing of days.
